Alpha is a Core Group that unpacks what we believe at River Valley Church. What do we believe about the Bible? Who is Jesus? How do I share my faith? If you have questions about being a Christian that you want to find genuine answers to, this is a safe place to get those answers! We share a meal around a table, listen to a talk on the week’s topic, and then have a discussion together to learn more about God and get to know one another in a deeper way.

Potluck & Prayer - A third Sunday of the month casual evening hangout seeking to develop intimacy with Jesus, build community, foster unity and provide an avenue to gather everyone together for food and prayer. Our goal is to facilitate natural connections that can lead to in-home gatherings and deeper intimacy with Jesus and each other. We have one rule: 1) The first time you come, you eat for free. The second time you come, you bring food or beverage to share. Everyone is welcome, old and young. *There is no childcare provided, but we welcome kids to join us! For over 25 years, Dave Ramsey’s been teaching commonsense, biblical money principles that work. Every time. Our group will meet on campus, Tuesday nights Feb. 28-April 25, 6:30-8pm. We will watch the video together every week and discuss. We will also review the ask for the week, to help plan for taking action together and individually.

There is nothing more exciting than living a Spirit-filled, empowered life! This nine-week Bible study will instruct, encourage and inspire you to walk in all that Jesus has made available to you through the infilling of the Holy Spirit and the gifts that He imparts. These gifts are vital and need to be used in order to be effective witnesses for Him. In this study you will learn about the unseen world, which is called the Spirit realm. Even though we don't see it with our physical eyes, we interact with it on a daily basis. You will also learn in detail about each of the nine gifts of the Spirit how they are used throughout the Old and New Testament by ordinary people. Finally, you will have the opportunity to deepen your relationship with the Lord through the lessons on prayer and intercession. Empower will meet Tuesdays beginning February 21 through April 18. Are you ready to take action to love our city well? Every Friday River Valley Church partners with the ICCM Life Center. Teams hit the streets of Minneapolis to love our neighbors and build relationships! By joining this small group, you will be able to connect with others from your campus that are serving in this capacity. You can serve as often as it works for your schedule (details on how to sign up for Fridays will be shared from your small group leaders - Brad & Michelle. Schedule: 6:30-7pm - at the Life Center for a time of prayer and worship. 7pm - load up the Life Center buses with food, drink, clothing, and other essentials. We will drive to various parts of the city focused on encampments, bus stops, and shelters. Throughout the night we will meet people, build relationships, and share the love of Jesus while providing food, clothing, prayer, and so much more. 9pm - debrief, testimonies and encouragment.

How (Not) to Read the Bible

This is a small group focused on reading through the book by Dan Kimball titled “ How Not to Read the Bible” each month at 5pm on the first Saturday of the month starting on December 3, 2022. The intent is to discuss 1 part of the book per session. If there's a lot of good conversation around a single part, we'll extend the subject over multiple sessions. Discussion sessions will be virtual and an email chat will get rolling once the group begins.
