Explore is a Core Group designed to inspire and enlarge your global heart as we study the biblical basis of missions and hear from some of our great missionaries. At River Valley, our heart is global because God’s heart is global. That’s why we believe that every follower of Jesus Christ should explore and know their role within God’s Great Commission. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided each week. For this season, free childcare will be offered with limited capacities on a first come, first serve basis. Registration will be required for each child individually which will secure a spot in childcare for the whole Explore session. The childcare registration link will be available soon!

Two of us mature women, myself and Beverly Johnson, would like to gather 10-12 younger women to discuss mentoring. We'll use the book 4 Ways to Leave a Spiritual Legacy by Dr. Michael Youssef, a study on II Timothy. The group will last for 5 weeks, Wednesdays in August, ending with a potluck. It will be from 6:30-8:00 pm.

This small group is created for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, who has wrestled with questions such as "God, do you see me?," "God, why are you silent?," "What is the good in this?" This is a safe space to connect with others at River Valley Church who are grieving the loss of loved ones, pray for each other about the difficult and disappointing times we've faced and are continuing to face, and learn to lament in a Biblical way. We will be meeting once or twice a month over coffee and light breakfast. Grief and loss can feel so isolating, but God does not want us to walk it out alone. We would love to walk alongside you and together seek God amidst the joy and sorrow! Kids are welcome to come -- there will be unstructured play time.

Men’s Open Gym Basketball

We are starting a men’s only (for now) small group in which we’ll be getting together on Sunday nights at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, for open gym basketball. All skill levels are welcome and the gym will be reserved for this RV group, specifically. Get in the gym and enjoy some fellowship and fun runs up and down the court for a few hours, followed by group prayer. Competition is great, especially in an encouraging environment, surrounded by men who love Jesus. Let’s form some authentic friendships while collectively missing plenty of shots and turning the ball over dozens of times. Please wear outdoor shoes until you enter the gym, in which then you can switch into your gym/basketball shoes. The cost is $5/person (each time) and their staff prefers cash, if possible.
