Alpha is a Core Group that unpacks what we believe at River Valley Church. What do we believe about the Bible? Who is Jesus? How do I share my faith? If you have questions about being a Christian that you want to find genuine answers to, this is a safe place to get those answers! We share a meal around a table, listen to a talk on the week’s topic, and then have a discussion together to learn more about God and get to know one another in a deeper way.

We are starting a men’s only (for now) small group in which we’ll be getting together on Sunday nights at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, for open gym basketball. All skill levels are welcome and the gym will be reserved for this RV group, specifically. Get in the gym and enjoy some fellowship and fun runs up and down the court for a few hours, followed by group prayer. Competition is great, especially in an encouraging environment, surrounded by men who love Jesus. Let’s form some authentic friendships while collectively missing plenty of shots and turning the ball over dozens of times. Please wear outdoor shoes until you enter the gym, in which then you can switch into your gym/basketball shoes. The cost is $5/person (each time) and their staff prefers cash, if possible.

Ephesians 3:12 says, "In Christ we come before God with freedom and without fear. We can do this because of our faith in Christ." Join us this semester as we look at what the Bible says it means to live in freedom as we study the book of Ephesians. Sisterhood is a group where women can find fulfillment and belonging at River Valley Church. This season we are going to explore different characteristics that make a healthy community! This group starts on September 27th and ends on November 22nd. You can join this group no matter what age or stage of life you’re in. You also can come at any time! You are always welcome at Sisterhood no matter when you decide to come. Let this be a safe place for you to grow in your relationship with God and build healthy relationships with other women. We can't wait to welcome you! Free childcare will be offered with limited capacities on a first come, first serve basis. We partner with ICCM Life Center for a promising evening of God ordained encounters! Teams hit the streets of Minneapolis to love our neighbors, build relationships while connecting with others from your campus that are serving in this capacity. You can serve as often as it works for your schedule. Starting at 6pm we meet at the Life Center for prayer and worship (preparing food is also an option). At 7pm we then load up the Life Center buses and drive to various parts of the city, focusing on encampments, bus stops, high traffic areas and shelters. Throughout the night we will have countless opportunities to pray with, love on, and provide essentials to individuals and families while spreading the JOY OF THE LORD. :) We gather back at the Life Center around 9pm to share our experience, testimonies and encouragement. It’s always powerful to see how the Holy Spirit moves both inside us and through the individuals we meet. Hope to see you there!! Welcome Home is your first step at River Valley Church. You were created for a purpose and we want to help you discover that purpose! You will build community, understand how God made you and dive deeper in your walk with Jesus. We can’t wait to meet you! We will meet on Sundays at 9:00-10:00AM for 4 weeks at the Apple Valley Campus on October 8, 15, 22, 29. Once Welcome Home is complete, we encourage you to find another small group where you can continue growing in your faith as you build friendships. You are free to check children into the Children's ministry area for ages 6 weeks through 5th grade after 8:45AM.

There is nothing more exciting than living a Spirit-filled empowered life! This eight-week Bible study will instruct, encourage, and inspire you to walk in all that Jesus has made available to you through the infilling of the Holy Spirit and the gifts that He imparts. These gifts are vital and need to be used in order to be effective witnesses for Him. In this study you will learn about the unseen world, which is called the Spirit realm. Even though we don’t see it with our physical eyes we interact with it on a daily basis. You will also learn in detail about each of the nine gifts of the Spirit how they are used throughout the Old and New Testament by ordinary people. Finally, you will have the opportunity to deepen your relationship with the Lord through the lessons on prayer and intercession. Are you ready to get started? We will meet weekly on Tuesdays at 6:30pm at Shakopee Campus. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided each week. Free childcare will be offered with limited capacities on a first come, first serve basis. Alpha is a Core Group that unpacks what River Valley believes. It answers questions like: Who is Jesus?, How do I read the Bible?, and Does God heal today? The format is simple: We share a meal around a table, listen to a talk on the week’s topic, and then have discussion together to learn more. Arrive at 6:15pm. If you have children, childcare is provided; you can check them in and drop them off at 6pm. Dinner is provided, but if you have food allergies, plan ahead and eat your own food. Alpha will begin at 6:30pm and go until 8:00pm. This group starts on Monday, September 25th, in the Main Auditorium. Our group will meet for 9 weeks, ending on Monday, November 20th. Also, mark your calendar for the Holy Spirit Retreat on Saturday, November 4th.
