Alpha is a Core Group at River Valley. Alpha is a series of sessions over 11 weeks that explores the Christian faith (Tuesdays, Sept 12-Nov 21). It answers questions like: Who is Jesus?, How do I read the Bible?, and Does God heal today? The format is simple: We share a meal around a table, listen to a talk on the week’s topic, and then have discussion together to learn more. For this season, free childcare will be offered with limited capacities on a first come, first serve basis. Registration will be required for each child individually which will secure a spot in childcare for the whole Alpha session. God desires that we overcome being ruled by our thoughts and feelings, which are highly influenced by our circumstances — family, work, health, or temptation. 2 Peter 1:3–4 tells us that we can actually do this! It comes from learning to respond to God's promises in His Word and through prayer. This is the purpose of The Promise Principle Men's Small Groups. Whether you’re still exploring faith in Christ, or you have been a Christian for many years, you’ll experience what we believe Jesus meant when He called His disciples to change the world by discovering and responding to His promises, truths, and commands. Serve Our Community | Embrace Grace | volunteers from all campuses

Embrace Grace provides emotional, practical, and spiritual support to young, single, pregnant women walking through an unplanned pregnancy through a 12 week program. We are excited for you to be part of this Serve Our Community small group! Involvement and time commitment can be determined on an individual basis. If your heart is to serve those during pregnancy, this group is for you!! Different ways you can volunteer: pray, mentor, teach at the small group, provide resources, pass out information, plan baby showers, administrative, provide a meal for small group, be a representative at your campus, etc!

The Woodbury YTH boys are meeting every Saturday at 10AM at the Starbucks in Kowalskis. We’re studying Daniel, which should take us through to Christmas at which time we’ll switch to whatever is next. The group is mostly targeted at the middle school boys, but we’ll see what it grows into!

Are you ready to take action to love our city well? Every Friday River Valley Church partners with the ICCM Life Center. Teams hit the streets of Minneapolis to love our neighbors and build relationships! By joining this small group, you will be able to connect with others from your campus that are serving in this capacity. You can serve as often as it works for your schedule (details on how to sign up for Fridays will be shared from your small group leaders - Brad & Michelle. Schedule: 6:30-7pm - at the Life Center for a time of prayer and worship. 7pm - load up the Life Center buses with food, drink, clothing, and other essentials. We will drive to various parts of the city focused on encampments, bus stops, and shelters. Throughout the night we will meet people, build relationships, and share the love of Jesus while providing food, clothing, prayer, and so much more. 9pm - debrief, testimonies and encouragment.

Potluck & Prayer - A third Sunday of the month casual evening hangout seeking to develop intimacy with Jesus, build community, foster unity and provide an avenue to gather everyone together for food and prayer. Our goal is to facilitate natural connections that can lead to in-home gatherings and deeper intimacy with Jesus and each other. We have one rule: 1) The first time you come, you eat for free. The second time you come, you bring food or beverage to share. Everyone is welcome, old and young. *There is no childcare provided, but we welcome kids to join us! This is a safe place to process and pray through child loss and infertility struggles 1 Samuel 1:19-20 Samuel Is Born 19 The family got up early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord. Then they returned to their house in Ramah. Elkanah lay with his wife Hannah, and the Lord remembered her. 20 The Lord made it possible for her to have a child, and when the time came she gave birth to a son. She gave him the name Samuel, saying, “I have asked the Lord for him." Samuel's Hope: A group of prayer warriors believing that God will make it possible for them to have a child. We will be asking God to remember us, just as he did Hannah in 1 Samuel, and to bring us a child. This group was created to be a source of encouragement, prayer support, and safe place to share. It's for women who have a desire to have children, but are facing obstacles. It's a place where we as women will stand together and ask God to make it possible. We will ask God to remember us and give us sons and daughters to raise to honor Him. The plan - to commit every Monday to a time in prayer for each other
