This group is for women 18 and older who want to find freedom through Jesus Christ from love and sexual addiction. The reality is that over 30% of women in the church struggle with sexual addiction. We have also walked that journey and after finding healing and freedom through Christ, can't help but offer others the opportunity to have the same! We know the feelings of shame and helplessness that often accompany these struggles, but we also know the hope that is found in Jesus! While joining a group like this feels scary, Jesus is proud of your boldness to say "I can't do it on my own - I need Jesus and His church to help me!" “I tell you in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who did not need to repent.” LUKE 15:7 “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in our time of need.” HEBREWS 4:16 In community we will gather on Tuesday nights for 10 weeks and walk through the Conquerer Series curriculum, which unpacks the Biblical and physiological steps to freedom. Due to the sensitive nature of this group, we will require that all members sign a confidentiality agreement, remain faithful to doing "homework" each week and missing no more than 2 weeks throughout the duration of the 10 weeks. This will help to keep the group a safe space, foster meaningful relationship, and promote true accountability. Each member will need to purchase a $20 Conquer Series Journal (from puredesires.org), and upon starting the group pay a $10 fee for video content. As a Marriage Mentor / Women's Mentor here at River Valley and Certified Trauma Life Coach, I have met many women who have battled the effects of trauma from sexual betrayal of a partner. Tru News reports 57% of pastors claim porn addiction is the most damaging issue for their congregations, while 69% say porn has adversely impacted their own church. This same study found that 68% of church - going men view porn on a regular basis. Behind each one of these men is a woman who has been traumatized by the effects of Sexual Betrayal. Porn and purity issues are a problem in our society and even in our churches. In many cases porn leads to even more destructive behaviors including affairs and sexual addiction. Whether through pornography, sexual addiction, an emotional affair, or an actual physical affair outside the marriage, the effects of sexual betrayal are both physical and emotional for a woman whose partner has been unfaithful.
