Hello! We meet at River Valley Shakopee on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30am. Starting Sep. 12, we will start a new book series discussing John Mark Comer's book 'The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry: How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern World". Here is the synopsis: --- “Who am I becoming?” That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. Outwardly, he appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: “Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.” It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was—and continues to be—the answer he needs. Too often we treat the symptoms of toxicity in our modern world instead of trying to pinpoint the cause. A growing number of voices are pointing at hurry, or busyness, as a root of much evil. Within the pages of this book, you’ll find a fascinating roadmap to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.
Sunday at 7:00 PM
We are starting a men’s only (for now) small group in which we’ll be getting together on Sunday nights at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, for open gym basketball. All skill levels are welcome and the gym will be reserved for this RV group, specifically. Get in the gym and enjoy some fellowship and fun runs up and down the court for a few hours, followed by group prayer. Competition is great, especially in an encouraging environment, surrounded by men who love Jesus. Let’s form some authentic friendships while collectively missing plenty of shots and turning the ball over dozens of times. Please wear outdoor shoes until you enter the gym, in which then you can switch into your gym/basketball shoes. The cost is $5/person (each time) and their staff prefers cash, if possible.

It comes from learning to respond to God's promises in His Word and through prayer. This is the purpose of The Promise Principle Men's Small Groups. Whether you’re still exploring faith in Christ, or you have been a Christian for many years, you’ll experience what we believe Jesus meant when He called His disciples to change the world by discovering and responding to His promises, truths, and commands. Each of us has an opportunity to walk in health as we walk with Jesus. We know that in church people face a myriad of challenges and we want them to walk in health through what is laid out in scripture. We'll use the book The Emotionally Healthy Church by Peter Scazzero. We will have a theme for each week, along with some Scripture to shed light on it. Each person will have a chance to tell their story in the first half of the meeting, and the second half will focus on Scripture that brings healing. All of us are searching to know God better, that's the goal of our group.
Serving opportunities will be shared with this group and participants can participate as it works with their schedule and/or interest. No set meeting times or commitments. Emails will be sent out as opportunities become available. Let's radically serve and love our community so that more people will come to know Jesus.
As a member of this group, you will be part of The Best Christmas Ever, a Christian nonprofit organization that helps families who experience hardships due to no fault of their own. https://www.bcemovement.org/ Do you want to make a HUGE impact on your community? God has given us each many gifts and strengths that we can use to make the world such a beautiful place. We can come together and create such an impactful group of giving and generosity! I, personally, see what heaven and God has given to me and I want nothing more than to give it all back to Him. I would love to create a group of individuals within River Valley Church that all have hearts to give back to those who are in need of SO much hope. Join me and let's make a difference!
