Biblical Treasure Hunters
Crosstown
Friday at 6:30 AM
When you read the Bible on your own, are you bored, confused or wishing you knew more? Then this is the small group for you. Using episodes from the Bema Discipleship podcast as a jumping off point, we’ll explore the Bible the way Jews do (and the way Jesus did!). In our western evangelical culture, we tend to get lulled to sleep by our familiarity of God’s Word, so we fail to pick up on clues in the text that lead to treasures of knowledge God has “hidden” in His Word. But Jewish rabbis know all about how to find these clues and follow them. Each week you’ll listen to an episode of the Bema Discipleship podcast with Marty Solomon (a Christian who teaches in the rabbinical style), and then you’ll practice “treasure hunting” with the same passage of Scripture Marty covered in the episode. Finally, we’ll come together with our clues, findings and questions to discuss and continue to wrestle with the passage as a small group. Through this, we’ll study God’s Word in a whole new way – following textual clues to new “aha” discoveries about God and His Word. We’ll be covering the first nine chapters of Genesis in our six weeks together. Reading the Bible should be exciting, and if it isn’t – you’re doing it wrong! So join this small group and fall in love with the Scriptures in a whole new way. Friday mornings from 6:30-8 a.m. June 9, 16, 30, July 14, 21, 28
